Right now, I have no legitimate subject to talk about so I'll just explain the contents of my day thus far. I'll start with church.
That was one of the longest services I've ever experienced. So much so that my mother and I had to leave immediately after communion. This isn't because I'm not a proper Catholic; it's because my mother's work hours are quite contrary to her faith. It started like any Saint Rose Catholic Mass. The first thing they say is turn off your cell phone, then they welcome you to church. Since I'm Catholic, my regular church length is one hour. Any Mormon who reads this will laugh and jest about how very painful it is for me to stay more than an hour and fifteen minutes. I feel bad for those people because anybody who spends more than that long in church has to have considered stabbing themselves in the heart half way through. Anyhow, we're in Mass. The first thing I notice is that Saint Rose has a new priest. The second thing I notice is that the entire Mass is slowed down about three times. "Mass" is a term for church in Catholic-ese, if you didn't know. The homily went about twenty minutes and after everything they said there was a long, slow song. At one hour in we had just reached Communion and my mother was becoming anxious. We received our little slices of Jesus bread and ran as fast as we could out the door.
I got home and then watched the new age, stylized version of Romeo and Juliet. Since I read MoogleKid's interpretation of the many versions of Romeo and Juliet we've seen in my father's class, I was skeptical. It was actually a very good version of the movie. It had just enough difference from the original play to keep it interesting. I moped about my house for a while and then decided to read some more of Great Expectations. After reading that and watching Romeo and Juliet I started to think of everything in a very strange, ye olde English kind of way.
After I forced myself through thirty pages I dropped the book and moped some more. I watched some of my weird online videos and then stumbled about my house. I took out the recycling while my dad cleaned up milk off the floor after he spilled it. It reminded me of the times that I used to spill everything I drank and my parents got angry when I did. Now that my motor skills have almost fully developed and my parents have aged a little, the roles have reversed. It made me think about how they won't be around forever; it made me sad. My dad got some pizza and we watched the end of Kung Fu Hustle, one of the best kung fu movies ever. Then one of our favorite shows, The Walking Dead came back on, and we watched the new episode with my mom. That's a basic Sunday for me. Today felt especially lazy though.
