We charge the gates and push them out with little effort. We don our hoods so we can still feel our ears. We are immediately met by a powerful force. I almost fall over and my friends almost did too. We put our weight forward and take strenuous steps forward. We can't see our ride so we wait a moment. Suddenly an even more powerful push throws me out of my stance. "Back inside!" another of my fellows cries. We sprint back inside. and watch from the window. Stanny's mom can tell us when she gets here.
Well, I've had quite an adventure these last couple of days. If you haven't heard there were serious wind storms in Utah recently. To be honest I'm not sure if a wind storm is actually what it's called but I like that name, and since it's my blog I'll call it whatever I want. Anyway, school was cancelled on Thursday and Friday of last week because of the massive damage caused by the windstorm. The power was out at the beginning of school and we were all siphoned into the gym to sit in the dark. After establishing that school was not going to continue that day, they released us to our respective first period classes to sit some more. After wasted time in Mr. Carper's class looking at his silly comics my dad sent me a text that said I could bring my friends to his class and eat some cinnamon bread.
Note: In case that last statement confused you, my dad is a teacher at my Junior High. It's pretty cool
I went down to his room for a piece of the delicious loaf and just happened to find another quadrant of my gaggle of pals. I'll name them now.
Stanny Frankfort is a kid I've known for a while. He's shorter than me and wears glasses as of two weeks ago. He's weird but has fun ideas. Jamie Barbara is about Stanny's height and is pretty skinny. She wishes she was Japanese but she isn't. Sakura's a little taller but still not quite as tall as I am. She is equally in love with Japanese things. Coby England is fairly new to our troop of fellows but he's cool. He's slightly shorter than Stanny. I'm gonna call my last friend Tibs, Tibs Halibut. He's about my size and has a strange interest in old timer clothes. Pretty weird friends right? I have other friends but these are my main group of insane.
They entered my dads class and we enjoyed a few slices while we determined what to do. In the end we decided to head to Coby's house. Sakura had to leave so we went without her. Coby's house is very big. After a little while at Coby's, Sakura came over with her brother Colton. Sakura's known for bringing her brother or sister over at random times for no reason, but there's nothing wrong with that really. It has never bothered me. Her siblings are pleasant and they're both about our age. Tibs and Jamie did not share the same feelings. Tibs started with one of his patented "I-hate-you-and-don't-care-if-you-know-it-so-I'll-hate-you-out-loud" statements. Jamie followed up with her giggly agreement. Stanny proceeded to call them jerks and Sakura agreed but they weren't about to fight about it. Tibs was always up for a fight and he tried to follow up on his previous statement. Colton stood strong and found me sitting silently solving a puzzle involving beads and spheres.
Now, I didn't take part in the momentary scrap because I hoped it wouldn't escalate. Our friends have always been divided into groups like that. Tibs and Jamie take an aggressive and sometimes oblivious stand on all things while Stanny and Sakura are normally the stable ones. I try not to get involved so that there is something to return to when they decide to simmer down. Jamie seems to laugh at things that don't need to be laughed at and is often unaware of how bad her words hurt sometimes. Tibs just likes to hit things for no reason and normally I end up being the butt of his jokes. I'd never say this to them out loud, but I've got to get it out somewhere. Sakura, I wouldn't suggest you tell anyone else about this for that reason.
We played a few little games and ran around outside in the wind for a while. Sakura's dad brought me home and I surveyed the damage. All of our backyard fences had fallen over, but besides that nothing super bad happened. I ate some more cinnamon bread because it's delicious and watched some of my silly Internet videos. My parents arrived and we went to dinner. That was the height of my week. Happy second week of Advent!
haha. You're posts never cease to make me laugh, mon ami. It's odd seeing me refered to as as Sakura, and even odder hearing of 'Jamie'. Maybe I'll blog about the gang too... smell ya later. :D
